Abstract:
The aim of the project is to designed a chemical process to produce Cumene from Benzene and Propylene reaction fed to the reactor, with a purity 99.9% of cumene, and a capacity production of ( 173,000 ton/year) of Cumene, the reaction is carried out at 250°C and 30 atm.
Chapter one presents general introduction, physical and chemical properties of Cumene and production, uses, safety and environmental information's of Cumene.
Chapter two gives a description of all manufacturing processes, selection of the best process Q-MAX process is also presented.
Comprehensive material and energy balance together with their flow sheets are given in chapters three and four, respectively. And simulation by [GUIMATLAB].
It is still fairly difficult to find a detailed thermal analysis of plant system in the open literature. It was found that the simulation done on the process [software program GUI MATLAB] showed that at appendix (B-1 & B-2).
Three main equipment's with detailed design calculations in the present project and they are:
(Reactor - Heat exchanger - Storage Tank) and they presented in chapters five to seven respectively.
Chapter eight gives the evaluation of project economics, and the total capital cost was evaluated, it was $ 70,529,936.54.
The control systems of the process are presented in chapter nine.
