Abstract:
This study investigates the teacher’s strategies and the role of information technology in teaching speaking in the English language department in college of Arts, Aljumaa, Zliten city, Libya. This research is applied to teachers who teach speaking courses or taught speaking courses before, and students who finished all speaking courses in Spring 2017/2018. This study is qualitative research. The researchers used interviews with the teachers and discussion groups with the students 10 collect data. The results revealed that the reason behind the weakness of the students' speaking skill does not only stand on the role of the student in teaching them, but on the role of the strategies which are applied on them too. In addition to that. The study concluded that IT plays a big role in the success of teaching and learning processes. Finally, this study is a useful one for further studies to follow. The researchers recommend them to expand this study and find out the effect of the common strategies applied, concerning the students' point of views.
