Abstract:
This research explores the strategies of reading English texts used by the students of English language department at the Faculty of Arts, Zliten, and explains their importance in comprehending the texts. The research consists of four chapters: the first is Introduction, the second is
Literature Review & Previous studies, the third is Research Methodology, the fourth is Results and Discussion. The researchers apply the quantitative methodology by using the technique of questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to 39 participants who are registered in either Reading 3 or Reading4. Only 32 were returned; 6 for R3 and 26 for R4. The results clarify that the students do not understand the strategies well. These findings have significant implications in reading. The Students should be encouraged to use the suitable strategies of reading skills as they facilitate their comprehension and improve their English literacy development.
